New movie BURLESQUE sees singer Christina Aguilera starring in her first leading role alongside pop veteran Cher, the story of a girl named Ali who helps turn the failing Burlesque Lounge into a hot spot.
Official Synopsis
Aguilera’s Ali runs away from Iowa in search of fame and ends up waitressing at The Burlesque Lounge on the Sunset Strip. That is until Kristen Bell’s headliner, Nikki, shows up tipsy one night and Ali must fill in. Ali helps turn what once was a lip-sync club into a singing-and-dancing revue after she displays her vocal fireworks onstage in numbers like “But I’m a Good Girl.” Cher is Tess, owner of a retro club who has a modern-day problem: She can’t make the payments on her over-mortgaged property. Together, Ali and Tess manage to transform the Burlesque Lounge into a success. Stanley Tucci is Sean, the lounge’s stage manager, a go-to guy for the gals and best friend to Tess.
Every night, Tess and Sean put together the costumes for that evening’s performance. Other men in the cast include Cam Gigandet (Twilight) as Jack, Ali’s piano-playing love interest; Eric Dane as entrepreneur Marcus, who tries to woo Ali away; and Alan Cumming as Alexis, the gender-bending doorman.

Jimi Hendrix Exhibition + Explore His London Flat | Event

Next month fans of rock legend Jimi Hendrix will be able to gain an access to his central London home and exclusive memorabilia. Hosted by the Handel House Museum, the Hendrix In Britain exhibition will run from 25th August – 7th November, and access to the Hendrix’s flat will be between September 15th-26th.
Handwritten lyrics, clothing and other memorabilia will go on display for the Hendrix in Britain exhibition. It will be hosted by the Handel House Museum at 25 Brook Street, in Mayfair, in September.
He lived at 23 Brook Street in 1968 but it now forms one property with number 25, where composer George Handel lived for 36 years until he died in 1759.
Hendrix moved into a top floor flat with his English girlfriend Kathy Etchingham. The rock star, who died on 18 September 1970 at the age of 27, rented the property for £30 a week. Handel House Museum staff now use the flat as administrative offices and it has previously been open only for guided tours on one-off occasions.
Sarah Bardwell, director of Handel House Museum, said: “We are excited to be celebrating the life of Jimi Hendrix.
“After moving to Brook Street in 1968, Hendrix learned of the Handel connection with the building and headed to One Stop Records in South Molton Street and HMV in Oxford Street to pick up whichever records of Handel music he could find.
“Clearly he was intrigued by the connection and we’re pleased to be celebrating his own legacy today.”
Hendrix in Britain will run at Handel House Museum from 25 August to 7 November.
Tickets for the September 15-26 opening of the Hendrix flat cost £8 and can be booked from 1 June.
