Corinne Bailey Rae goes all Roberta Flack with a touch of Sade (think ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and ‘Love Is Stronger than Pride’) on this sublime live acoustic performance of ‘I’d Do It All Again’. The stripped-down arrangement gives it a pastoral feel, I think. Corinne said in a recent article that the song was inspired by her turbulent but ultimately loving relationship with her late husband, Jason Rae.
CBR’s lyrics have always had a good deal of substance to them but I am sure you’ll agree this song has an even more plaintive, visceral quality than her previous output. It’s a sad truth that beautiful art is often the by-product of prevailing through some of life’s tribulations and tragedies. Certainly the case here. ‘I’d Do it All Again’ is to feature on her forthcoming album ‘The Sea‘.
Corinne will be performing at the Union Chapel tomorrow. Please follow link for details.

I have a feeling we are going to see a more amazing complex Corrine and her music will be phenomenal.
She was good before but she’s even better now
Really liked that
She is phenomenal. I’m so happy she’s back!
