In this 14 minute interview with TRACE.TVMaxwell discusses his rebellious side, his Puerto Rican and Haitian heritage, going to Africa, the connection between Africa and America, his views on Caribbean culture – and the woman he dated who inspired BLACKsummers’night.
A genuinely insightful interview piece, regardless of how much you already think you know about Maxwell. Good job, Trace.

This is a great interview of Max being “real” like he is. He is a bautiful man but what’s on the inside makes him 1000000000000000X’s more beautiful. I hope the world never takes him and what he stands for for granted. Love you forever Max!
Hey, ‘Whenever, Wherever Whatever’ was on ‘Urban Hang Suite’ not on Embrya! And I wish Americans would be more specific when they talk about ‘going to Africa’; it IS a whole continent- which part? Apart from that, a wonderful interview- I still have so much respect and luv for this man, he always has something insightful and genuinely interesting to say. It’s strange with the BSN project Maxwell’s doing so much more press than he has done previously. I’m just glad that for once, a major label such as Sony gave him the space to grow and develop as an artist and as a man.
