SB.TV spoke with K’Naan about “Waving Flag” and the World Cup, recording in Bob Marley‘s house, working with Damian Marley, Mos Def and The Gorillaz‘s Damon Albarn (who he calls ‘a little crazy’), K’Naan’s favourite place to visit -  and he observes that UK music is either “glossy, really bad pop” or “the best stuff”.

K’Naan’s latest album, 2009′s Troubadour is out now.

About Tahirah Edwards Byfield
Being born to a father who used to own an independent reggae label and a mother who sang meant a love for melodies, chords, vocals and beats was naturally infused in Tahirah Edwards Byfield. Unfortunately that love for music wasn’t accompanied by any type of musical ability! So the young creative married her love of tuneage with her other favourite form of expression, literature. Combined with the other thing she’s pretty good at – talking too much – Tahirah enjoys waxing lyrical about music and street culture on paper and on radio.

Wavin Flag is NOT the world cup anthem, Shakira’s song is btw.

you are sore jelouse, atleast he is bringing a positive message, and you, just criticizing!

      • AB says:

Wow, somebody is jelous…that ain’t good. BTW the official world cup anthem is of course Shakira’s but K’naan blew it out with Wavin’ flag because its the offial wold anthem. Its more famous and listened more by the world. So cry me a river boooooooooooooooohoooooooooo.

    • Wow, sounds like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Comparing the two is really like apples and oranges. K’naan brings a great positive message through his music. He’s also inspired by the king of all goodwill, Mr. Bob Marley. The flag waving was a very good natured gesture.
