Jose'-James-1smallIt has just been revealed that José James signed to legendary American jazz label Verve Records last month, via their historic Impulse imprint.  Founded in 1960, Impulse was notably home to many releases by the iconic John Coltrane – one of the New York singer’s key inspirations.

Moving forward from his acclaimed 2008 jazz debut The Dreamer, James calls this label development “a lifelong dream come true”.  The first release from his new deal shall be an album of standards in duet with pianist Jef Neve and is due for release on Impulse close to May 2010, titled For All We Know.

James, formerly signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Records, enthuses, “This is “The House that Trane built” so you know I’m excited + so honored to be a part of that legacy – It’s a huge honor.”
