Nicki Minaj x Chase & Status “Saxon” (New Music)

Young Money artist Nicki Minaj takes on UK superproducers Chase & Status‘ dubstep anthem “Saxon” – a reference track for Rihanna that never made it onto Rated R.  Chase & Status have had an amazing year so far scoring a top ten track in the UK and production on Rihanna, Jay-Z and Roc Nation’s first UK artist Rita Ora projects.

I would have loved to hear Nicki Minaj actually rap on this but to be honest it grew on me and I can’t stop listening to it.

Rappers on Dubstep? Yay or Nay? What are your thoughts?

nah man bun this, usa all jumping on the dubstep bandwagon ain’t cool, fair play it’s making the producers money but it’s dowie, theres bare uk hip-hop/grime artists who’d be sick spitting over it and dubstep in general but nah fuck us hip hop, they don’t get it.

this reminds me of a time i bought a full house stuffed crust pizza and my friend was sick all over it.

saxon is a mad nice tune! big up chase n status every time. one of my fave production duos easy, their album is a madness.

but this is rubbish! she just talks shit all over it till you cant hear saxon anymore. get the original version, turn it up! it doesn’t need no American slow boring talk over it.

  3. [...] Dubstep and Rap/Hip-Hop haven’t always formed a perfect marriage. There has been several attempts and most of them end up sounding forced or downright weird. Seeing as how Nicki has already proclaimed herself as the Bride Of Chucky on the “Break Up (Remix)” — it’s safe to say her Rihanna sounding rendition of this Chase & Status record might be better than any of the verses she ever rapped on. Dubstep for the win. Spotted at TheFADER via Soul Culture. [...]
