Moviegoers have been all but snowed in by Hollywood’s constant avalanche of big-budget trilogies and super-hero franchises. Donning a bright red cape, a pair of shiny boots and some spandex, Julie Delpy‘s 2 Days in New York swoops in to the rescue, providing some sweet relief with a quirkier sort of sequel.
The Big Apple follow up to 2 Days in Paris, Delpy’s dramatic comedy sees the French director and actress reprise her role as Marion. Co-starring the great Chris Rock as Mingus, Marion’s boyfriend and flatmate, 2 Days in New York hilariously zooms in on the two lovers’ relationship, as Marion’s family comes to town wreaking all sorts of havoc, tearing open old wounds and dismantling the solid foundations of a loving partnership.
Favourably compared to Woody Allen‘s New York films, the charming comedy marks another full-length directorial effort from Delpy, the Before Sunset and Before Sunrise star. Should 2 Days in New York live up to expectations, it may just enjoy a few successful months at the box office.
