DC lands screenwriter for Justice League movie | Film News

Marvel and DC have been going at it for years, vying for the attention and affection of superhero afficionados and comic book lovers all over the world. The two juggernauts have taken the fight from the page to the big screen, with several big-budget franchises rivalling each other over the years.

While DC may have landed a game-changing blow with Christioper Nolan‘s monumental The Dark Knight, Marvel has struck back in the form of Joss Whedon‘s gargantuan Avengers movie.

Now, it appears DC is assembling a super group of their own: The Justice League.

News of a JL movie shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Hollywood honchos have been promising this treat of a film for years, batting their flirtatious lashes at fanboys all too teasingly. There have been scripts for Superman vs Batman epics, and rumours of various larger than life matchups. The success of Avengers Assemble may just have given the folks over at DC the nudge they needed, encouraging them to tap one of the hottest writers in L.A.

Will Beall has been a very busy man, impressing executives with his script for the eagerly-anticipated Gangster Squad, starring Josh Brolin, Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling. The in-demand scribe has also been typing various other big budget projects to life, heading writing duties for the Logan’s Run and Lethal Weapon remakes.

Should Beall’s Justice League movie come to fruition, it may just spark another round of DC/Marvel jousting. As long as knock out quality movies are delivered, not too many fans would disapprove.
