News from the production team of Kick-Ass 2 continues to do just that: kick ass.

We’ve had all sorts of great and exciting news in recent weeks, setting the heart racing at the prospect of an even bigger and better follow up to Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 superhero hit.

Hot on the heels of awesome, potentially jaw-dropping casting information concerning a certain Jim “Bruce Almighty” Carrey (not to mention the additions of Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Robert Emms and Donald Faison), word from Mark Millar suggests that Kick-Ass 2 may be a whole lot more bloody, action-packed and awesome than we all thought.

Millar, who created the “Kick-Ass” comic books alongside John Romita, Jr., took to his blog to tease a few details about the second silver screen adaptation of his popular magnum opus.

“I’m torn between the Hit-Girl and Mother Russia fight and the scene with Hit-Girl fighting the super-villains on the roof of the moving van,” he wrote. “Both are just mind-blowing.

“But the Mother Russia fight is going to be one of the most brutal and epic battles in cinema. Think how good Mindy is and then multiply it to 300 pounds of female muscle just pounding her and using every weapon you can imagine in the midst of that big final battle.

“This looks amazing with the stunt team and a temp. Imagine what it’s going to look like with the actors, Jeff’s direction, Eddie’s edits and a final soundtrack. I’m really, really excited.”

It doesn’t get any more titillating than that.

Kick-Ass 2 is set to be released on 19 July 2013.
