The Wolf of Wall Street reunites legendary filmmaker Martin Scorcese with Oscar-nominated Hollywood royalty Leonardo DiCaprio. The Italian-American twosome has worked together on films such as Gangs of New York, The Departed, The Aviator and Shutter Island, clearly sharing a successful and highly productive creative rapport. The famous and acclaimed duo enjoy a very good friendship and make for a somewhat odd couple — but when they combine forces the two are almost unstoppable, regularly making bank, wowing critics and landing major accolades.
With The Wolf of Wall Street, Marty and Leo take on former stock broker Jordan Belfort’s frank and shocking memoir of his meteoric rise and hellish fall in New York’s financial district. Belfort’s story is the stuff of legend, charting the unbelievable success and illicit actions of a hungry stock broker turned white collar criminal described as Wall Street’s biggest crook many have never heard of.
Adapted by The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire penman Terrence Winter, another of Scorcese’s longtime associates, The Wolf of Wall Street stars DiCaprio as Belfort and features a stunning cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Oscar winner Jean Dujardin, Friday Night Lights hero Kyle Chandler, The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal and funnyman Jonah Hill.
Shooting for the film began earlier this month in New York, and, as a result, a selection of images have been released, giving fans a look at what’s to come.
