It was four years ago that action film Taken hit the big screens, and after much wait we can now bring you the trailer for Taken 2, where Liam Neeson reprises his role as ex-CIA operative Bryan Mills, this time to save his wife after she’s kidnapped and held hostage in Istanbul, Turkey.
The trailer begins with a funeral scene with a number of graves; the funeral is that of the men Mills killed in the first film in a quest to save his daughter from them. A man at the funeral vows to avenge their deaths, and with these kind of threats made right from the off, we’re sure this sequel will bring just as much drama and action as the first did.
While in Istanbul by himself, Mills is surprised by the arrival of his daughter Kim and ex-wife Lenore, but the happiness this surprise brought is quickly gone when Lenore is taken at gunpoint. Mills immediately warns his daughter that she could be next in a phone call that’s very reminiscent of a conversation the pair shared in the first film.
“Listen to me carefully,” he warns. “Your mother is going to be taken. People are gonna come for you too.” He continues this calm and straightforward manner when talking to the kidnappers, saying, “This is not a game. I will finish this thing. You’ll just have to die.”
The trailer is filled with fighting, gun shots, car chases and explosions, and is everything you’d come to expect it to be. Neeson is again joined by Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen, with Olivier Megaton as director.
Taken 2 will be coming to theatres October 5th.
