According to Ain’t It Cool, Bryan Singer has confirmed the title for Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class sequel.

“It’s called Days of Future Past, and it deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things,” the X-Men and X2 director revealed. Singer will also serve as a producer for the new film.

The movie is expected to be an adaptation of Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s popular storyline of the same name in the Marvel comic book, The Uncanny X-Men.

One of the iconic X-Men story arcs, Days of Future Past saw Professor Xavier’s extraordinary extraordinary mutants time-travelling back and forth between the present day, where the X-Men battle with Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a dark, dystopian future brought about by the heroes’ failure to stop the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly.

Featuring the giant, fearsome Sentinels, Days of Future Past seems to be in keeping with First Class producer Simon Kinberg’s claim that the movie will be “really ambitious.”

Production for the film is set to begin early next year.
