Rian Johnson really is a great and innovative filmmaker. The uber talented 38 year old has made some fine, fine movies over the past few years; having written and directed movies like the highly impressive Brick and 2008′s The Brothers Bloom. Johnson even went behind the cameras to shoot an episode of the incredible Breaking Bad. In Looper, Johnson is probably working on his most ambitious effort to date; certainly his most expensive.
The director teams up with Brick star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt once more; creating a stunning motion picture experience that brings together some superb acting talents like Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, The Newsroom’s Jeff Daniels, the wonderful Paul Dano - star of There Will Be Blood – and Deadwood’s Garret Dillahunt.
Looper tells a futuristic story set in 2072, in which mercenary assassins are hired to travel back in time to dispose of the mob’s enemies and targets.
The film looks exciting and breathtaking, mixing beautiful cinematography with explosive action, superb story-telling and great acting; all in all a potentially awesome watch.
