Michael J. Fox, best known as Back to the Future’s freewheeling time-traveler Marty McFly, is set to turn back the years, making a grand and full-time return to TV.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the Teen Wolf star is currently shopping a single-camera comedy project inspired by his life.
51 year old Fox is reported to have teamed up with Arrested Development and Cougar Town writer Sam Laybourne and Easy A director Will Gluck. Sony Pictures Television is said to be taking on the comedy with a view to a 2013 launch.
Fox is attached as the star of the project, harking back to his days as one of the golden boys of American television, having made his name on popular shows like Family Ties; before going on to win an Emmy for the popular and critically acclaimed ’90s sitcom Spin City.
The diminutive star has also made regular guest appearances on several series in recent years, including Scrubs, Boston Legal, The Good Wife and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
With Jerry Seinfeld prepping his new web series and Mitchell Hurwitz‘s amazing Arrested Development set for a major comeback, comedy lovers are in for a great period of TV viewing, should Fox’s show come to fruition. Bearing the Mars Attacks! and Stuart Little star’s pedigree in mind, the embryonic series should be a riot.
More info on Fox’s prospective show should be forthcoming in the following months.
