The Wolverine claws closer and closer, James Mangold‘s superhero action-drama set in the Land of the Rising Sun picking up pace to the delight of many an X-Men fan. Over the past few weeks and months, details, images and all manner of revealing nuggets have been leaked to the wider public, whetting the appetite for all things adamantium. We’ve seen set pictures and have been introduced to cast members.
Finally, we have an idea of what the movie will actually be about…
“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed,” reads an official synopsis from Fox.
James Mangold – the movie’s director – also shed some more light on the upcoming motion picture, revealing on Twitter his inspirations for the film; “Movies I think about as I make #TheWolverine : Eastwood’s Josie Wales (sic), Powell’s Back Narcissus (sic), Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Marnie, Vertigo.”
Starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima, The Wolverine is scheduled for be release on July 26, 2013.
