The trailer forThe Place Beyond the Pines, the next film from Derek Cianfrance has been released, and looks set to be a very unique crime drama. Reuniting Cianfrance with Ryan Gosling, whom he worked with on 2010’s Blue Valentine, the film tells the story of Luke, a motorcycle stunt rider who, after learning that he has a newborn son, decides to make a living robbing banks.
This eventually sets him on a collision course with Avery, an ambitious cop, played by Bradley Cooper, aiming to rise through the ranks of the police. Avery eventually moves into politics and soon learns of the corruption that is rife in both areas. One of the films most interesting features is that it also focuses on the generation that follows, spanning over fifteen years as we see Luke and Avery’s sons grow and eventually attend high school, struggling with the shadows that their fathers’ legacies have cast.
Starring Eva Mendez, Rose Byrne, Dane DeHaan and Ray Liotta alongside Gosling and Cooper, The Place Beyond the Pines will be released on April 12, 2013.
