The Dark Knight Rises may be the biggest film on his plate, but isn’t the only film Tom Hardy will be starring in this summer. Hardy — who plays super-villain “Bane” in the new Batman flick — stars alongside fan favorite Shia LaBeouf in prohibition-era crime drama Lawless.
Hardy and LaBeouf portray bootlegging brothers Patrick and Forrest Bondurant in director John Hillcoat‘s (The Road, The Proposition) period piece, which also stars Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Clarke Peters and Jessica Chastain.
Lawless hits US theaters August 29th. Check out the official synopsis, a pair of trailers and a bunch of character posters below.
Lawless synopsis:
LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.
