Thanks to TV Guide, EW and Vulture, brand new images of AMC’s new season of the groundbreaking and masterful Breaking Bad have made their way online, offering fans a brief glimpse into the meth-addled world of the increasingly powerful and egotistical Heisenberg — the drug dealing scientist in a pork pie hat.
One of the greatest achievements of original programming in television history, Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad has been engaged in a creative arm-wrestle of sorts with Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men, both vying for the number one spot in the canon of great TV shows, jostling with The Sopranos and The Wire.
Having wrapped up its fifth season, Weiner’s popular advertising drama will be making way for Gilligan’s drug-dealing tale of metamorphosis, transporting viewers from the high-rises of ’60s-era Madison Avenue to the sun-blasted expanses of Albuquerque. Following an eight-month hiatus, the dealers, schemers and chemists of Breaking Bad will be staking their claim of preeminence come July 15.
In typical BB form, not much has been revealed about the show’s upcoming season. Nevertheless, what can be expected is some fantastic, original storytelling, incredible performances, jaw-dropping twists and disturbing revelations.
