While fans of How I Met Your Mother remain all hot and bothered about the future of the show, wondering whether the popular sitcom’s upcoming eighth season will be its last, the hit comedy’s creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays are just as cool and nonchalant as ever, confidently holding onto their cards. However, HitFix reports that the veteran twosome have revealed plans to release a How I Met Your Mother soundtrack.

For years, the Emmy-winning sitcom has made great use of some hilarious and catchy songs to generate big laughs, spawning some pretty cool dance routines. Thomas and Bay intend on captilising on the show’s propensity for goofy numbers to produce a HIMYM soundtrack in September.

“We’ve been asked by the fans for years, ‘When is a soundtrack going to come out?’ We’ve never been able to make it happen. Finally, we decided, ‘Look, it could be the last year of the show, we don’t know if there could be more. This is the time to do it,’” Thomas said at a recent CBS press tour party. “We compiled everything. It’s 20 tracks, 40 minutes of music. On premiere night (Monday, Sept. 24), the soundtrack is going to go up on iTunes.

“We are going to do a fully-produced version of the ‘Bang-Bang-Bangity-Bang’ song, perhaps with a slight New Orleans theme,” he added.

How I Met Your Mother fans are sure to be excited by the prospect of breaking it down to some of Robin Sparkles’ popular numbers. The lively ”Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit” comes to mind.

Should Bays and Thomas confirm a ninth season of the show, that, in addition to the HIMYM soundtrack, would be music to the ears.
