Following the trailer for Ang Lee‘s upcoming Life of Pi, the first clip from the movie has been released.
In it, the titular character (played by Suraj Sharma) and Richard Parker the Bengal tiger encounter some flying fish. Visually stunning (so far) and utilising a mix of live action and CGI, the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon director’s latest film is based on a 2001 novel of the same name by Yann Martel, and follows Pi who is on a journey from India to Canada with his parents, who are relocating the zoo his father owns.
Carrying some of the zoo animals the ship with them, it eventually sinks, and causes him to take a 227-day journey with them, including the more than friendly tiger in the trailer below.
Life of Pi hits our shores on December 20th.
