Digital Spy reports that British band Coldplay has teamed with Bongo Comics to release a Mylo Xyloto miniseries.

The upcoming title is slated for a February 2013 release but will be available this week at San Diego’s Comic-Con International, with Bongo providing copies of issue #1 at the annual multi-genre convention.

Coldplay, the world famous Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head band fronted by lead singer Chris Martin, introduced the Mylo Xyloto character to the world with the release of their fifth album, telling the story of two protagonists living in an oppressive dystopia who meet one another and fall in love.

Inspired by the band’s latest studio effort, Kung Fu Panda writer Mark Osborne was hired to pen the upcoming comic’s plot.

Osborne said of Mylo Xyloto:

“The comic is the latest expression of a music-driven feature animated film that the band and I started developing several years ago. It is the story of Mylo Xyloto, a young Silencer on the front lines of a war against sound and colour in the world of Silencia.

“Mylo discovers that the enemy he’s been trained to hate his whole life might not be the enemy after all. There will hopefully be many, many connections for people who have heard the album. I am beyond thrilled with the way it’s turned out.”

Digital Spy reports a limited supply of the exclusive edition of issue #1 will also be made available in the Coldplay online shop.
