Following cycle maker Trek and Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch, Nike has announced that they will cut ties with Lance Armstrong, a week after the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s released a report accusing Armstrong and his teams of widespread doping.
In an official statement, Nike stated: “Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.”
Nike intends to continuing supporting Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG charity, which he announced he would be stepping down from as Chairman yesterday.
