Twenty-year-old Harlemite Azealia Banks looks to bolster her already burgeoning career today by signing with Troy Carter, manager of pop icon Lady Gaga. The move further hints at Ms. Banks’ mainstream takeover, with her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste due out in September via Interscope.
The femcee was initially gearing up to release her aniticipated 1991 EP yesterday, but it looks like the shift in management contributed to the delay.
“I just switched management. Literally like three days ago, and have a whole new set of resources to take advantage of. We’re gonna vamp this up and make it official. No more ghetto mixes and closet recording. I have a budget now! #brokewithexpensivetaste,” she tweeted on Monday.
The EP’s release would have coincided with Azealia’s performance at Coachella last weekend, which is being toted as one of the best shows of the festival so far. Watch her full set here.
