CBS News takes an in-depth look at Grammy-winning producer 9th Wonder’s “Sampling Soul” course at Duke University.

Long before it was in vogue to have HipHop-based courses or rappers teaching on college campuses, the former member of the now-disbanded North Carolina trio Little Brother became one of the first artists to do so when he, along with Christopher “Play” Martin of Kid N’ Play fame, instructed a HipHop History class at North Carolina Central University in 2007.

The CBS piece delves into 9th’s motivation for teaching, how his students feel about the course, and why the course is so important. Check it out below.
