With a sophomore album on the way, J. Cole has brought in singer/songwriter, and fellow Roc Nation labelmate, Melanie Fiona for another collaboration.

Having worked together already on Melanie Fiona’s album, MF Life, for a track called “This Time,” Fiona is now returning the favour by appearing on Cole’s album for a positive and uplifting song.

Fiona told The Juice; “I did a track for him which will probably be on his new album. It’s about a competition he was having with young girls and boys about keeping your head up and staying positive. I actually haven’t heard a final version of it yet.”

She continued to say how pleased she was that Cole chose her in particular to work on such a song. “It felt good that he had reached out to me to be on a record like that, you know? I think that says a lot about how he sees me as an artist and that’s cool. That’s exactly how I want to be represented.”

With stand out songs on Cole’s first album also being ones with a positive message, like “Daddy’s Little Girl,” this song sounds like it’ll be another amazing song which will utilise Cole’s storytelling skills.
