The annual Grammy Awards are coming around once again and this year they have appointed a new host; “Mama Said Knock You Out” rapper/actor (with a recurring role in NCIS: Los Angeles) LL Cool J, a two-time Grammy winner himself. Recent previous hosts of the awards ceremony have included Queen Latifah , Ellen DeGeneres and Jon Stewart.

LL Cool J seems very ecstatic about the opportunity as quoted: “I’m thrilled to be part of music’s biggest night…I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show… is a dream come true.”

As well as the host change another small alteration has been made to the amount of award categories, falling from 109 to 78 compared to last year.

The award ceremony, which is set to take place on Sunday, February 12th – airing on CBS at 8 ET/PT – will see performances from the likes Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters and Lady Gaga.

Lifetime achievement recipients for this year will include Diana Ross, and both the late CEO and co-founder of Apple Steve Jobs and Gil Scott-Heron.
