Oprah Winfrey reveals shock at discovering long-lost half-sister

The most influential woman on US television, Oprah Winfrey was left “speechless” at the news that she had a long-lost half-sister, it was revealed on Monday during the billionaire’s daytime talk show.

48-year old single mother of two, Patricia from Milwaukee who was put up for adoption and kept a secret by Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee in 1963 was welcomed by Oprah herself to an emotional reunion on the popular Oprah Winfrey Show.

Oprah Winfrey and Patricia had their first meeting on Thanksgiving last year when the former and her longtime partner, Stedman Graham drove to Milwaukee to see Patricia, Oprah confirmed on her show on Monday and was quoted as saying, “Imagine my shock just a few months ago, at the end of October, when I found out I have another sister living just 90 minutes away.”

This personal revelation by Oprah Winfrey adds to the list of private information about her life that she’s revealed on her daytime talk show over the years including revealing that she was molested as a child and that she lost a baby at the early age of 14.

We’ve also learned that Monday’s show, in which Oprah Winfrey revealed Patricia as her half-sister, scored the TV show host her best ratings in over five years.
