His royal purpleness Prince announced his forthcoming tour earlier at a press conference at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. The “Welcome 2 America” tour will begin in December 2010 and will see the legendary star and his band New Power Generation performing as well as playing master of ceremonies for a host of feature artists including Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding and Cassandra Wilson.
“Bring your friends, bring your children,” Prince told the audience, “and bring foot spray, because it’s going to be funky.”
“Come early, come often. I have a lot of hits… no two shows will be the same,” he said.
Full tour details will be announced over the next few weeks.
