The annual Summerjam reggae festival took place in Germany 6-8th July, bringing tens of thousands of fans from across Europe to see a wide array of artists ranging from legends to exciting newcomers to the much-loved Jamaican music. Grammy-winning Rastafarian roots-reggae icon Burning Spear, dancehall king Beenie Man, reggae’s most recent Grammy-winner Stephen Marley, toasting pioneer U-Roy and international superstar Sean Paul were amongst the headliners of the three-day festival.
Showing that the once-localised Jamaican music has inspired talent across the globe, Italian Alborosie, Swedish dancehall artist Million Stylez, the UK’s Natty and Hollie Cook, Polynesian crooner J Boog, Nigerian-German soulstress Nneka, American reggae band SOJA, Ivory Coast’s revolutionary Tiken Jah Fakoly and many more represented various nationalities on the festival’s three stages.
