Eminem has been announced as the first headline act for next summer’s Reading and Leeds festivals, more than ten years after his first (and until now, only) appearance at the British rock and indie event.

The 40 year old rapper, who headlined V Festival last summer and drew record crowds at T in the Park in 2010, will be returning to the UK to play the Main Stage at both locations across the weekend of the 23rd-25th August. He will join a line-up that includes Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J, dance act Sub Focus and grime collective Boy Better Know, who will head up the newly-expanded BBC Radio 1xtra Stage.

According to information posted on the festival site, Marshall Mathers will be performing with a “mammoth live band”. He famously ended his last performance at the event, one of Europe’s biggest, by duetting with Marilyn Manson.

Tickets are on-sale now, with early bird prices until December 31st. Click here and here for more information on the two festivals.
