On one of fashion’s most important dates of the year, designers and celebrities all came together Monday night for the annual Met Gala, which introduced an exhibition tribute to Italian designers Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli this year. The typically star-studded affair boasted many striking outfits, with attendees including Beyonce, Solange, Kanye West and Rihanna.
After hitting the red carpet last year in a structured Emilio Pucci gown that she could barely walk in, all eyes were on Beyonce. This year, the singer and new mother gave Givenchy a try, with a full length, sheer black gown with purple feathers on the train. Although Jay-Z wasn’t in attendance this year, sister Solange went along and stunned everyone in a bright yellow, peplum dress designed by friend Rachel Roy.
Rihanna also walked the red carpet, this year keeping it more demure but still sexy in a full length, black croc-skinned Tom Ford dress. Model Chanel Iman accompanied Ford, also in a gown of his.
Rising fashion muse Azealia Banks went to the event alongside Alexander Wang, who customised a black cutout dress personally for her.
Not letting the ladies outshine them, Swizz Beatz, with wife Alicia Keys by his side, wore a Givenchy suit, matched by Kanye West also in Givenchy.
Other attendees included Scarlett Johansson in Dolce and Gabbana, Jessica Biel in Prada with Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross, Florence Welch and Paula Patton.
