Hometown: Detroit, Michigan
Record Label: White Room Records
Drawing inspiration from some of the darker, overlooked and more honest portions of human emotion, the unique being that is JMSN captured our attention in 2012 with his beautifully unnerving and haunting odes, coupled with accompanying artistic yet almost horror-like self-directed visuals that in equal parts shocked, scared, hypnotised, disarmed and left us in awe, and is set to continue raising the bar this year.
The 25 year old Detroit, Michigan hailing singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and director, real name Christian Berishaj, is far from a new artist n the traditional sense, having already been signed to Universal records under the moniker Christian TV and Atlantic records under the name Snowhite as the frontman of a pop band called Love Arcade. But out of the ashes of those failed projects and free from Major Label manipulation, JMSN rose like a dark phoenix and released the critically acclaimed, self-written, produced and independently released LP †Priscilla† – a hazy, spaced out audio journey exploring the darker emotions and sounds of R&B, which won over a legion of cult followers and fellow artists.
In addition to sold out dates over the past year, JMSN made significant vocal contributions to several high profile projects including Game‘s “Pray” alongside J. Cole, and most notably on Kendrick Lamar‘s critically acclaimed good kid, m.A.A.d city album featuring on four tracks – “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Art of Peer Pressure,” “Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst” and “Real” (he also played the strings on “Sing About Me”).
This year JMSN will be releasing the eagerly anticipated Unit 6 collaborative EP with Top Dawg Ent’s Ab-Soul, creating and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry and crafting/releasing a follow up to the †Priscilla† project. Keep both ears and eyes locked on JMSN in 2013.
