While Black Hippy‘s individual members have built impressive reputations for themselves – and continue to do so – the idea of a group album has been at the top of fans’ wish lists. However, in a recent interview with Hip-Hop Wired, Ab-Soul nixed any notions of a Black Hippy LP, saying that it will “never” happen.
“No… never… ever… for real, seriously,” he replied adamantly, when asked about the possibility of the album.
His comments somewhat contradict those of fellow TDE rep ScHoolboy Q, who told HHW earlier this year that “once we make that shit a class and we feel we ready to do [an album], we gon’ do it.”
Only time will tell if a Black Hippy record becomes reality, or the stuff of myth, à la Detox. In the meantime, you can watch Solo’s full interview below, in which he also speaks on possibly featuring on Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d. city album, and his label mate’s collaboration with Lady Gaga.
