DaM-Funk – “What U Did Wasn’t Fair To Me (Girl)” | New Music

An unreleased track just appeared on DaM-Funk‘s SoundCloud account and it’s short, sweet and a little sad.

What U Did Wasn’t Fair To Me” combines one of the LA boogie-funk king’s typically retro bass grooves with flickering synthpads and RnB-style vocals. Whereas DaM-Funk’s tracks usually provide nostalgic Polaroid snaps of warm West Coast scenes, the voice here (which DaM-Funk apparently added himself) revisits such shots with a tearful tone. That tone belongs to someone unlucky in love, and whilst romantic injustice clearly isn’t a formula for happiness, it doesn’t half lead to good music. Listen for yourself below:
