Snapshots: Joey Bada$$ + Va$htie shoot ‘Waves’ music video

Andy Bustard June 25, 2012 Hip Hop Comments

It was “Survival Tactics” and its equally-as-gritty music video that propelled 17-year-old BK emcee Joey Bada$$ to the status as one of hip-hop’s most promising – not to mention nostalgic – emcees, but now, fresh off the success of his debut project, 1999, “Waves” will be one more centerpiece in Joey’s video catalogue.

Video director, style icon and all-round cool chick Va$htie (Child Rebel Soldier “Us Placers”, Kendrick Lamar “A.D.H.D.”, Big K.R.I.T. “Boobie Miles”) fills the director’s chair, and took to her blog to leak these snapshots and this clip from on the set.

As you can see, the clip looks to take place in his high school (“We were told we were not allowed to shoot on school property… but… we worked around that” she captioned), in his bedroom and at The Knitting Factory, where Joey and his crew performed not too long ago. Needless to say, the whole Pro Era crew will be making the customary cameos.

See below for the behind-the-scenes footage and hit the jump to view all the snapshots. The full “Waves” music video premieres on July 1st.
