Jay-Z and Steve Stoute are teaming with Oscar-winning filmmakers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer to create a movie based on next month’s Made In America music festival.
The September event is Jay’s first foray into curating a large-scale festival, and the film will document the rap star’s efforts in bringing the star-studded show to fruition.
“[The film] is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective . . . how he puts the event together,” Grazer told The New York Post. Grazer, Jay and Stoute will co-produce the film with Howard handling directing duties.
Grazer also sent some high praise Jay’s way during his talk with the Post, marveling at the MC’s staying power.
“Jay stayed the king for a very long time,” he said. “I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”
The Made In America festival is sponsored by Budweiser and will be held September 1st and 2nd at Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. For more information on the event, www.MadeInAmericaFest.com.
