Grammy-winning composer/DJ/radio personality Just Blaze sat down with Boy Genius Report host Jonathan Geller recently to discuss a range of technology-based topics.

Early on, the former Roc-A-Fella in-house beatsmith gave BGR an insight into why he chooses to use popular production software Logic Pro to craft a large majority of his beats — including “Lord Knows” for Drake and as well as Boy Genius Report’s intro music — and why digital-based production is so important to him.

“It’s just more concise,” he says. “It’s a better way to work for me; it’s a better work flow. I can start a round on the ground and finish it in the air [on an airplane]. I can finish it from a hotel room. For about a year, I was running Logic on my MacBook Air. The last five or six records that I’ve made were all made on that MacBook Air. ‘Lord Knows,’ ‘I Love My Bitches Women‘ by Rick Ross. Everything I have done for the past few years was all done on that MacBook Air.”

Later, the two chop it up over Justin’s Sony UX180, its specs, hacking its software, technological progression from P95s to Apple’s much sought-after iPad before discussing the producer’s Cannon EOS C300, directing videos, hosting Master Of The Mix and much much more.
