“Funky Worm” by The Ohio Players is undoubtedly one of the most sampled songs in hip-hop’s long history, the iconic synthesizer solo has a place in the hearts of many West Coast rap aficionados as it’s been including in tracks by Dr. Dre, Game and Too $hort to name a few.
Karriem Riggins like so many other soul musicians mourned the recent loss of Leroy “Sugarfoot” Bonner and decided to create a short tribute track in his honor. An even longer tribute project by Riggins, ?uestlove and similar musicians would be even better (Fingers crossed for someone with some clout is reading this post and runs with the idea. I don’t even need credit).
