Kendrick Lamar, fresh off his coronation as The Source’s Rookie of the Year, recently recorded an interview with a rather different section of the media, making an appearance on Gilles Peterson‘s BBC Radio 6 show.

Whilst there K Dot was asked how much he listened to UK and European electronic music, including artists like Hudson Mohawke and his Canadian partner-in-crime Lunice, who both fit within the hip hop orbit too. The answer seemed to be “not too much,” but when Gilles played him TNGHT‘s relentless, horn-driven banger “Higher Ground” K.Dot went in off-the-top with a short, London themed freestyle that showed he relishes such a challenging beat.

The full interview will be broadcast on BBC6 Music on December 1st, for now listen to the freestyle below.
