I’m not entirely sure how I came across this, but DAMN I’m glad I did! Although I’ve played the behind of their three track EP, The Story, I’m still waiting for more of an insight into to the three lovely ladies that make up the group that is KING, having had what can only be described as a bit of a runaway success on the underground circuit after getting co-signs from people such as Questlove, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae and Prince. [They recently opened up a show for the Purple Yoda in LA - drool!]

Talking to Parlour Magazine, this video sees these beaming ladies, twins Paris and Amber Strother, with their friend Anita Bias talk about a whole host of things… from their musical backgrounds, creation process, group formation and how their royal title came about. They also cite their influences: Prince, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Miles Davis and of course, Stevie Wonder.

As a HUGE Stevie fan it’s great to see that Paris is also one, so much so that she keeps mentioning him in this interview. When I say that I can’t wait for their LP it’s perhaps the biggest understatement I ever done said in my life!
