Big Sean recently chatted with Angie Martinez of Hot 97 on a number of subjects; including his recent show in his hometown Detroit, his significant other, his multiple Grammy nominations and his upcoming album.

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper seemed very at ease in the studio, maintaining a humorous tone throughout. In response to his recent Grammy nominations, Sean showed no sense of complacency, declaring with authority that, “this the first year, so next year we’ll make it four.” He joked, “I was wondering if I should go wearing a speedo, or a tuxedo.”

Angie pulled no punches in trying to find out the Detroit superstar’s relationship status. After evading questions for a while he finally admitted, “I got somebody special… The girl that I’m real serious with, I’ve had a crush on her since I was fifteen. So one day, I said, ‘you need to quit playing and hop on this man.’ I said that in so many words. I took her out like every day for a week.”

Having recently performed in his hometown of Detroit, Sean recalled, “we sold the arena out, it was just me. The owner of the Pistons called me up. We figured we’d just have the floor open, but the tickets sold out fast as hell. I brought ‘ye, J. Cole, Pusha and Common. People don’t get that in New York.”

With regards to his upcoming project, Big Sean was brief – “album in February, it’s like 80% done. I’m flying back tonight to go finish it.” Listen to the entire interview below.
