Seattle-born rapper Macklemore hits up BET’s 106 & Park to drop a hot freestyle in The Backroom, bringing playful raps about his style, the Cash Money frontmen and online comments with some well-placed braggadocio throughout over a Beatclock Productions instrumental.
Macklemore hit the scene back in 2000 with his Open Your Eyes EP, taking a five year hiatus before his next project the rapper, who is collaborative partners with DJ Ryan Lewis, started to really step into the limelight last year with his string of music videos, notably “Wings.”
Messing up just a little after the half-way mark in the freestyle below, Macklemore perseveres with his rap in his ridiculously large fur coat. As he gears up for the release of his next project The Heist, Macklemore – who was recognised as one of XXL’s Freshmen this year – shows us why we need to pay attention to what he’s bringing to table.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ project The Heist drops October 9th.
