The legendary Bobby Womack has received some good news. After being diagnosed with colon cancer this past March, doctors have deemed the 68-year-old musician cancer-free after a successful medical procedure.
The news was announced on Womack’s Facebook page:
“We’re delighted to announce that Bobby Womack has undergone surgery for suspected colon cancer. A tumour was removed last night which turned out to be cancer free. We wish him all the best in his recovery from the operation. Thank you for all your kind messages and support.”
Despite what was a bleak diagnosis, Womack had no plans of shying away from music. He is set to release his comeback album The Bravest Man In The Universe, which will be produced by Damon Albarn of The Gorillaz and XL Recordings head Richard Russell, in both the UK and US next month. The album will be Womack’s first project in over a decade.
We wish Bobby all the best with his recovery and are looking forward to his new release.
