The IRS has been aggressively pursuing entertainers with tax debt in recent years, and former Timbaland protege Bubba Sparxxx is Uncle Sam’s latest target. Documents show that the Georgia MC owes nearly $29,266.88 in back taxes from 2006, the year after his highest-charting single, “Ms. New Booty” featuring the Ying-Yang Twins, was released.
Sparxxx, whose real name is Warren Mathis, originally owed only $15,000 or so, but interest and fees have nearly doubled his load.
The State of Georgia has already begun collection action by garnishing the rapper’s royalties. So far, they have collected $3,622.45.
Outside of the aforementioned club favorite “Ms. New Booty,” Sparxxx is most known for his 2001 debut single “Ugly,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart and at No. 7 on the UK charts. The song was from his gold-certified debut Dark Days, Bright Nights. He has not released an official album since 2006′s The Charm.
