Although his third studio album, Detox, looks to be growing in mythical status with each passing year, Dr. Dre has reemerged onto the hip-hop scene somewhat in 2012, guesting on Kendrick Lamar‘s “The Recipe,” Rick Ross‘ “3 Kings” and 50 Cent‘s “New Day” – which has apparently proved financially fruitful for the Doctor.
Unveiled today, the West Coast producer/rapper sits at No. 5 on Forbes’ annual highest-paid celebrities list, making him the only hip-hop artist to hold a spot on the 21-person selection.
Dre earned a whopping $110 million this past calendar year. Of course, a large portion of that sum was generated through his globally popular Beats By Dre headphone brand, which sold 51% of its stake to HTC for $300 million last August.
However, Forbes predict that the Doctor won’t make the list next year, as his earnings were considered a “one-off.”
To no surprise, Oprah Winfrey, who cashed in a cool $165 million, topped the Forbes list, which you can view in full here.
