For those unaware, New York City hip-hop is going through a renaissance right now. Amidst the major-label scoops in A$AP Rocky and Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, the True School-esque successes of Action Bronson and Nitty Scott MC and intriguing eccentrics that are Das Racist and Flatbush Zombies stands 17-year-old Brooklyn-bred emcee, Joey BadA$$, who is widely held to embody the future of the Big Apple’s rap monarchy.

You’ve heard a sample of why this teenage rapper is being championed so early on through material like “World Domination“, “Catharsis” and the near-viral “Survival Tactics“. Having bagged an appearance on MTV Sucker Free, opened for Mac Miller and headlined his own show at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn recently, Joey BadA$$ is prepping the release of his solo debut project, 1999, which today has been scheduled for a June 12th arrival.

Stay tuned for what has been toted as one of the most anticipated releases of the Summer.
