As the 2012 edition of Hot 97′s annual Summer Jam extravaganza comes to a close, many around the Hip-Hop world are wondering why neither Nicki Minaj nor any of her YMCMB teammates (except for Tyga) were present.
Minaj was billed as the show’s headliner, but very early in the festivities Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg, one of the show’s emcees, had some very disparaging things to say about her song “Starships.” So disparaging, in fact, that Young Money head honcho Lil’ Wayne pulled his entire team from the show’s lineup.
Check out Rosenberg’s comments and the series of tweets regarding the YMCMB defection after the jump.
History will be made @ Hot97 Summer Jam tonight. I really hope you’re there to witness it.

Rosenberg’s disdain for “Starships” is well-documented, as he lambasted the song in a three-minute tirade on his radio show back in February.
Nas, who apparently was one of Minaj’s planned guests, ended up stealing the show by performing an abbreviated set during which he brought out heralded singer and MC (and another of Minaj’s planned surprises) Lauryn Hill.
Whether Rosenberg will face any negative repercussions from Hot 97 for his actions is yet to be seen.
