Aaron Camper, for the uninitiated amongst you, is a Grammy nominated singer-songwriter from Salisbury, Maryland. He’s also the son of a preacher man and I think it’s fair to say that they make for pretty damn good singers. We’ve already brought you his mixtape, Welcome To My World Volume 1, and whilst we await the release of his new single “Madness” and a forthcoming EP, here is the latest from Mr Camper – an acoustic performance of John Mayer’s “Stop This Train.”
The track remains true to the feel of the original, with lyrics that journey through a lamentation and then acceptance of the inevitability of growing older, over twinkling acoustic guitar. That being said, there are a few subtle differences that really allow Camper to show off his soulful vocals.
The video, directed by Addison Wright, serves to give us a better understanding of the artist by showing the in-studio performance with cut shots of other studio sessions, waiting fans and live gigs, and provides a bit of a glimpse into Camper’s journey and the energy that one can expect from his shows.
Watch out for the upcoming EP, dropping on the 24th of July.
