While the Rick Ross-assisted “Born Stunna” was the first release from Birdman‘s forthcoming sixth solo album Bigger Than Life, the Cash Money CEO has decided to go another route for the album’s first visual. The stunna formerly known as Baby puts his locs on and brings comrades Lil’ Wayne and Mack Maine along for “Dark Shades,” a sinister-sounding cut produced by Mr. Beatz whose video was helmed by YMCMB’s current go-to director, Colin Tilley.
If you’ve ever heard “Bill Gates” from Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being project, then you’re already familiar with this hook — taking lines from one song and making them the hook for another is a time-honored Cash Money tradition — and if you’ve ever heard any Cash Money record ever then you’re already familiar with this song’s subject matter.
As for the visuals, Tilley once again creates a chaotic scene in which Wayne skates, Stunna stunts and Mack just tries to get in where he fits in. Nothing groundbreaking, but it works.
Bigger Than Life is coming soon.
