There’s actually some decent rapping on DJ Khaled‘s Kiss The Ring album, and whilst “Bitches & Bottles” is probably making some YouTube troll named HipHopIsDeadBringBackPublicEnemy have panic-induced spasms in the comments section somewhere, the one thing I’ll say is that, however ignorant and ridiculous this track and video is, the respective rappers know exactly what they’re doing.
For one, the hook itself has the courtesy to point out that it’s “dumb and retarded”. Secondly, the visual is so ridiculously Mike Will Make It club-rap 2012 that it’s practically self-parody anyway. Future sings as only Future can (or can’t), whilst girls act out Weezy‘s sex similes for him (bench-pressing, roses, even PISS-TESTING) and DJ Khaled jumps around doing nothing. Women play with their hair and shake bottles, Weezy plays with his skateboard but doesn’t skate, and all we need now is 2 Chainz to put this in a time capsule and remind our pretentious future selves what we really listened to in 2012.
